The screen protector is easy to install if you are careful. They should’ve supplied an extra screen protector should you go wrong with applying the first one. They say it is reusable. But I never encountered “reusable” screen protectors that you wash without getting water spots in the protector upon drying. The main topic of this review though is the leather case. I say for the money, it is really good value. It is not luxurious, prime leather, it is pretty soft. But it adds a certain cushioning should you drop your Nook Simple Touch. This latest Nook costs $139 and will become available in early May, though Barnes and Noble has started taking preorders on its website and in retail stores. Barnes and Noble isn’t making changes to the other Nook readers like the Nook Tablet, including the light-free but otherwise similar $99 E-Ink-based Nook Simple Touch ereader.

Both B&N E-Ink devices carry the same paperback-size footprint too, but the new Nook with GlowLight is actually a tad lighter than Simple Touch without the lighting technology (6.95-ounces vs. 7.48 ounces). You turn on the light on the new Nook Simple Touch ereader by holding down the “N” button for a couple of seconds.

Barnes & Noble said a light like this was the one most-requested feature since it launched Simple Touch and they listed to their customers. That’s one thing Barnes and Noble has in common with Amazon is that they are very innovative and customer-centric when it comes to developing new ereader and tablet technology.

The CEO finished by saying, “the biggest innovation in reading since the original Kindle came out in 2007.” That’s bold words for a bold product. For right now, Amazon isn’t responding, but only time will tell.

Nook Covers and Cases

While the Nook, Nook Color, the Nook Touch, and the Nook Tablet Reader are all sturdy devices, sometimes it can pay to have a case or cover to protect it’s surface. Good cases and covers give easy access to all screens and buttons. There are waterproof versions, but they are mostly to protect from rain and not from dropping it in the toilet or a bath tub. Covers and cases come in a variety of materials from leather to cotton to neoprene to nylon to silicone to steel to vinyl and a variety of colors from black to blue to green to orange to pink to purlple to red or white.

Screen Protectors

To protect your Nook Color or Nook Tablet’s screen against scratches, dust, and dirt, use a screen protecoter. The two piece anti-glare Nook Matte Film Kit, including signature cleaning cloth, helps to shield your Nook screen from dust, debris, and scratches. Easy application and removal, peels on and off. If this is your first screen protector ever, you will probably have a fit. The keys to properly applying a screen protector are patience, a super clean *dust-free* screen, patience, the smooth edge of a credit card or stiff thin cardboard, more patience and no dust. Below I mention some finer points of installing but this protector went down pretty easily.

Power Chargers

Chargers allows you to charge either by AC or USB. These Isotoner Smartouch gloves are warm, comfortable, and work great on my smartphones. They fit well, even on small hands. You may have trouble texting with them on, but as far as answering a call or making one, getting my email, or any other action on my phone, these gloves work like a dream – so much better than taking off a glove constantly! Plus, they have anti-slip areas on the palm side and fingers so driving with them is safe too. The Agloves don’t appear to have this feature.

This is a full glove, not like the texting gloves that you have to pull the fingertips of the gloves back to expose your fingers to the cold air to text or use a smartphone or other touchscreen device. With these, your fingers stay warm, which to me is the point of gloves in the first place. I recommend them to anyone looking for a decent glove that also needs/wants to use a touchscreen device.

The case is advertised as synthetic leather, but it isn’t possible to tell from the look and feel that it isn’t the real deal. I found that if the NookColor is inserted into the bottom tab holders it is quite easy to get the elastic tabs at the top around the reader – a snug fit but it does work. Another reviewer mentioned problems with the volume control and power buttons. Yes the elastic tabs do cause minimal interference with these buttons but I didn’t find that it was a serious issue. When using the NookColor for audio playback I simply pushed the elastic tab off (not a big issue for me because I have only used the audio player and Pandora a few times).
