The case is advertised as synthetic leather, but it isn’t possible to tell from the look and feel that it isn’t the real deal. I found that if the NookColor is inserted into the bottom tab holders it is quite easy to get the elastic tabs at the top around the reader – a snug fit but it does work. Another reviewer mentioned problems with the volume control and power buttons. Yes the elastic tabs do cause minimal interference with these buttons but I didn’t find that it was a serious issue. When using the NookColor for audio playback I simply pushed the elastic tab off (not a big issue for me because I have only used the audio player and Pandora a few times). It is possible this might be problematic or inconvenient in the future if I use the audio player and Pandora more but for now its no big deal. This is a pretty good value and so far I’m quite pleased.
